Conveyor is a mechanical apparatus consisting of a continuous moving belt that transports bulk materials or objects from one place to another. A conveyor system allows quick and efficient transportation of loads of all shapes, sizes and weights. Industries where use of conveyors are popular are – agriculture, pharmaceuticals, publishing and printing technology, packaging, food processing, automotive, etc.
Conveyor belt is a long loop of rubber or plastic (usually combined with steel for strength) that is wrapped around a set of motorized rollers that cause the surface of the belt to move forward or backwards. Usually, a simple conveyor belt is stretched between two rollers: a driven roll that powers it and the other, an idle roll which is free to spin when the belt moves.
Conveyors by Industry :
A large number of industries use conveyor belts and other such systems to efficiently manage systems and reduce labor costs.
Food Handling & Processing : We come across different operating conditions, sanitation requirements and chemical resistance problem in food industry. The conveyor belt system is designed in a way to give fast and effective sanitation.
Medical & Pharmaceutical : In medical industry, conveyor systems are used for handling, producing, assembling and packaging of bandages, gauze, syringes, and other surgical instruments. These are also used for compressing pills, filling drums with pills, high speed bottle filling, and blister packaging in pharmaceutical industry.

Conveyors by type :
Roller Conveyors : Roller Conveyors are used in situations where items are stopped momentarily or when manual stop is injected either for inspection or some operation or when items on the conveyor need to be turned for certain reason. Powered Roller Conveyor is used for accumulating loads and merging/sorting operations, while Gravity Roller Conveyor is used for heavy-duty applications or when slope for gravity movement depends on the weight of the load.

Conveyor by application:
Accumulation : Accumulation conveyor is used to temporarily hold an item until a release signal is given. This process of holding is important as both manufacturing and warehousing material handling system require momentarily stoppage of belt for doing some checks or carrying out other processes.
Common applications include feeding product into other machinery or holding items to be shipped. Accumulation conveyor can be utilized in various processes, such as loading, sorting, taping, strapping, palletizing, or picking.
